April has been a hectic month for me to say the least. My hubby left for work for 6 weeks to Asia and I have been juggling a 2 year old, work and getting in some much needed exercise. I applaud all the single parents out there! I am really fortunate to have a workplace that allows me to have flexibility to do pick up and drop off to daycare as well as family close by to help out whenever needed. The entire month I was caught up in keeping Kiyan busy and making sure I had lots of fun activities planned out for him that I wasn’t really taking care of myself and ended up having a cold mid month which wasn’t so fun either.
On a happy note, I had a few successes this month! I have a 2.5 year old who is potty trained! Success! It was hard and I had to enlist the help of my mum on days I was at work but the deed is done, I am so proud of my little man. He was also using a soother up until April and with the help of a great friend that has gone now too.
I did also find time to obsess over a few things! I was in desperate need of some casual shoes and after searching high and low I found these super comfy Keds for Kate Spade. These are my first pair of Keds and so far I really like them. They are slip-on’s which is handy and they are really comfy to wear all day long. There were a couple of others I was eyeing but of course no luck in my size!
Living in Vancouver is amazing as we are blessed with great weather compared to the east coast. This Spring being no exception. I have been lucky to be able to get outside every evening with Kiyan, I have been doing Sprints while he plays in his trampoline or runs around. I work for Springfree Trampoline so I am probably a little biased here but it is amazing! I don’t have to worry about him playing in there and he loves it!
I have been utilizing run keeper to track my sprints and love it, it helps me see how I am doing and I can join friends as well. It also connects to the Spotify music app so I don’t have to worry about trying to coordinate an alternative app for music. Most of the time when I am running in the garden I don’t put headphones on so I can hear Kiyan, but when I do get to do solo sprints I love using the wireless ear phones by Beats by Dre. They are so convenient! With my ipod in my pocket I don’t have to worry about tangling up my cord to reach my ears.
This months beauty obsessions have been Batiste Dry Shampoo, I am pretty sure I am the last person to start using dry shampoo. I picked this up at Homesense as a last minute item during checkout and am in love with dry shampoo! Seriously why didn’t I use it before, I mean it makes your rough hair mornings so much better!
Lastly, my splurge for the month was Latisse. I am not really into the continual use of false lashes or false lash extensions so I thought I would give it a whirl. I was a little skeptical when I first saw Latisse and hesitant to use it but while taking Kiyan to his Optometry appointment at Vision Source, I saw they carried it. If my optometrist was ok with it then so am I, she is amazing by the way! So here I am 4 weeks in and my lashes are growing looonnnggg! They say it takes 12 – 16 weeks to reap the full benefits of fullness and length but I am already seeing the length its amazing! I will be dedicating an entire post to Latisse after I complete my 12 weeks so I will keep you posted on the before and after and the useage.
