Lip Filler – To fill or not to fill?

Full plump lips are a coveted fad, and with Kylie Jenner’s famous pout plastered across the internet, one can only be envious of those blessed with luscious lips…..or those faking it. However, if you’re like me and have been umming and ahhing for a while, but feel that you could use a little pick me up as you cross the bridge into your 30’s, then I am here to tell you that lip filler is the way to go! At a hefty price tag of $650 a syringe, you can only pray that you only need the one!

I have been thinking about getting my lips filled for quite sometime but combined with the hefty price tag, the fear of something going wrong and a husband who keeps saying just don’t do it! I put it off for a while, but then I decided to take the plunge and do it! YOLO! Oh gosh, did I really use that ughh. Anyway, I thought it was time to try it out and see what the hype was. I went to see a fantastic injectables nurse and had a wonderful experience. I had 1 syringe and felt like it had a great subtle difference. I noticed but the world didn’t, just what the doctor ordered!

I was a little worried about the pain factor but with a little numbing cream around your lips it definitely takes the edge off and there was no downtime. I did get a bruise on the upper part of my lip but nothing a little lipstick couldn’t take care of. The bruise lasted about a week and after that there was zero discomfort. I loved them so much I went back for more. I decided I just wanted them a touch bigger and added another syringe and I think I have found my happy place! They still look natural and the second time round there was no bruising which was fantastic. Overall I feel it is money well spent. Most people say the filler lasts anywhere from 4 – 6 months, so a little indulgence a couple times a year never hurt anyone! I was so excited about getting them done I forgot to take a good before and after picture! Here is a side by side from a couple of selfies!

There are a few different fillers on the market and generally depending on the area you are looking to have done the doctor or nurse will pick the right fit. In my case we used Emervel lips, it is a softer product and feels completely natural.

Remember! Ain’t no shame in your beauty game! Own it!
